The 2027 Women’s Nations League draw has produced several compelling group contests, with Spain, England, France and Germany among the nations facing demanding assignments. The competition offers more than international bragging rights, since performances will contribute to qualification for UEFA Women’s EURO 2029 and the 2028 Olympic Games.
The league structure gives every team a different test. League A brings together the continent’s strongest sides, while Leagues B and C provide other nations with opportunities to climb the rankings and compete for promotion. With promotion, relegation and tournament qualification linked to the competition, each group has its own competitive stakes.
Spain, the reigning world champions, face Norway, the Republic of Ireland and Switzerland in League A Group 1. England have been drawn against France, Austria and Portugal, creating one of the toughest assignments in the competition. Denmark, Italy, Iceland and Wales make up Group 3, while Germany, the Netherlands, Sweden and Scotland complete League A.
England and France will command plenty of attention in Group 2. Both have considerable tournament experience and the quality to contest the top position, while Austria and Portugal have an opportunity to disrupt their plans. Germany also face a stern examination against three established European rivals.
