Mamelodi Sundowns fans secretly wish TS Galaxy got relegated last season – You can’t blame them; The Rockets have been the “bogey team” for the Brazilians lately.

While Sundowns usually dominates the Premier Soccer League, Galaxy have a habit of pulling off shock results against them, especially at Mbombela stadium, where Sundowns hasn’t won in their last five visits.

TSG Galaxy famously knocked Sundowns out of the 2023 Carling Knockout Cup on penalties and eliminated the Yellow Nation again in the 2026 Nedbank Cup Round of 16 with a 2-0 win.

Coach Bernard Parker recently pulled off a massive 3-2 victory over Miguel Cardoso’s men to further cement their status as the one team that can consistently get under Sundown’s skin.

TS Galaxy players and fans were seen dancing under Mbombela lights. The joyful atmosphere spread to the streets of Orlando, Soweto as the Buccaneers start to dream of that shiny trophy that has eluded them for 14 years.

Mamelodi Sundowns Watching The PSL Title Race Closely

Since Sundowns have no more league matches in the PSL title race, their fate depends totally on Pirates’ last two games.

Pirates entered the Durban City match knowing that If they drop four or more points, Sundowns will win their ninth successive league title.

Looks of disappointment filled the Amstel Arena after the final whistle blew.

The Chairman and executives of Orlando Pirates put their champagne bottles back in the fridge as the showdown with Durban City ended in a goalless draw.

This result left the Buccaneers in 2nd place, still trailing Mamelodi Sundowns. Durban City ‘Parked their team bus’ in front of goal and became only the second team in this season’s PSL title race that prevented the Sea Robbers from scoring.

PSL Title Race Could Still Favour Mamelodi Sundowns

The PSL title race now shifts towards Orbit College’s final league fixture. The Yellow Nation are now the biggest Orbit College supporters.

To avoid a return to the second tier, Orbit College must secure a positive result in their final league match and hope other results go their way.

Orbit College is currently part of a tight three-way battle for survival with Magesi FC and Marumo Gallants.

The Buccaneers must go to Royal Bafokeng Stadium and win.

Anything less would hand the title back to Mamelodi Sundowns for a ninth consecutive season.

No pressure….
