Kaizer Chiefs fans nationwide are currently experiencing a significant wave of optimism as the Soweto-based club continues to rebuild in both the men’s and women’s games.
After failing to finish in the top eight last season, the team has shown a “vastly improved” performance, nearing their best points return in the last six years in the PSL. For the first time in three years, the club has qualified for the MTN8 knockout tournament and is on course to finish third in the league.
Recently, Kaizer Chiefs Ladies made their long-awaited official debut and will be looking to emulate the steady rise of their male counterparts.
The newly formed Glamour Girls attracted one of the largest crowds ever seen for a league opener in the division.
Despite the high attendance at Tsakane Stadium, the debutants succumbed to a 2-0 defeat to Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies.
Head coach Unathi Mabena expressed pride in the team’s effort but noted that they gave Sundowns too much respect and space during the game.
Unathi Mabena described the result as a “wake-up call” and a learning curve for the new squad as they look to build momentum in their inaugural season.

The team’s deep desire to win and fighting spirit against a long-established women’s powerhouse shows that they certainly have a bright future in the Gauteng Women’s Provincial League.
The Glamour Girls have arrived in style, and they are definitely here to stay.
