After 29 days of football classics, the historic 48-team tournament is now entering its climactic stages.

FIFA 2026 World Cup has produced record-breaking milestones, beautiful underdog stories, dramatic comebacks, knockout upsets and emotional farewells. Football fans caught last glimpses of rare tier legends like Cristiano Ronaldo, Guillermo Ochoa, Luka Modric, Manuel Neuer, Neymar Jr., Riyad Mahrez, Virgil van Dijk, Mohammed Salah and Sadio Mane in their national team colours.

Both Curacao and Cape Verde captivated the globe with their Cinderella stories as nine African teams qualified for the Round of 32 to suffer the brutal agony of last minute eliminations. All three co-host nations – Canada, Mexico, and the United States – were sent packing out of their team hotels after the Round of 16. This marks the first time in world cup history that three co-hosts have all been knocked out before reaching the quarter-finals.

With traditional heavyweights like Germany, Netherlands and Brazil already back in their home countries, the likes of England, Spain, France and Argentina will fancy their chances of lifting world football’s shiniest prize.

Unlike the group stages, the quarterfinals offer no second chances. The 2026 FIFA World Cup quarterfinals will be held from July 9 to July 11, 2026, across four major U.S. stadiums, featuring the eight winners from the Round of 16.

Here is a result and the fixtures of the last 8:

France 2-0 Morocco – Foxborough, USA

Friday July 10

Spain vs Belgium, kick-off 8pm – Los Angeles, USA

Saturday July 11

Norway vs England, kick-off 10pm – Miami, USA

Sunday July 12

Argentina vs Switzerland, kick-off 2am – Kansas City, USA

May the best four win.
