Man United are seeking further input from supporters as plans for a proposed £2 billion stadium move towards more detailed design work. The club wants fans to assess key features of a venue that could hold 100,000 people and replace Old Trafford as their home ground.

Announced in March 2025, the proposal would mark the end of an era for a stadium that has hosted United since 1910. Old Trafford has witnessed league titles, European triumphs and generations of supporters, so replacing it involves more than constructing a larger venue. United must prove that a new ground can preserve the intensity of matchdays while meeting the demands of modern football.

Thousands of supporters have already taken part in consultations on the stadium and the regeneration of the surrounding area. The latest survey focuses on design, accessibility, affordability, transport links, the wider campus and the atmosphere inside the ground.

A 100,000-seat stadium would rank among Europe’s largest football grounds, but capacity alone will not make it a fortress. The acoustics, seating configuration and distance between fans and the pitch will all influence the atmosphere. United need a design that keeps supporters close to the action and gives the home crowd a genuine influence on the match.

Affordability presents a tougher question. More seats could expand access, yet high ticket prices would leave many supporters unable to attend. The club must also consider transport links and access for disabled fans. These decisions will affect the matchday experience as much as the stadium’s appearance.

Collette Roche, chief executive of the new stadium development, has stressed the need for supporter input on heritage, access, affordability and atmosphere. The club has also indicated that focus groups will test design ideas and examine how accurately fan feedback has been interpreted.

The initial concept attracted attention for its tent-like roof and three towers. However, the final design has not been settled, so supporters still have an opportunity to influence key features.

How Man United fans can take part

The survey will go to season ticket holders, cup season ticket holders, official members and executive club members. Supporters on the season ticket waiting list and those who bought hospitality at Old Trafford within the past three years will also receive it.

Responses must be completed by 12:00 GMT on Friday, 6 November 2026.
