Jerry Sikhosana

Jerry Sikhosana whose alias is the “Legs of Thunder” is a former South-African professional footballer. The “Legs of Thunder” is best known for his lethal striking prowess in the black and white colours of Orlando Pirates as well as the South-African national team.

Jerry was born in the dusty townships of Thembisa on the 8th of June, 1969.  Growing up in a football loving family who owns a football franchise called Thembisa Santos, sparked a young Jerry’s interest in the ‘beautiful game’. His journey to stardom began between the sticks as a goalkeeper. By chance, he caught the attention of a youth coach who spotted his potential as an outfield player. His elite ball-playing and passing skills were early indications that his potential will be best utilized as a forward player whose main objective is to score goals. The rest, as they say, is history…

After impressive short stints with Giant Blackpool and Witbank Ace FC, the Pacey “Legs of Thunder” became a wanted man amongst clubs in the PSL. His decision to leave his boyhood clubs and join Orlando Pirates in 1993 was perhaps the best choice of the bona fide legends career. One of the highlights of his distinguished career is the solo run he made in the African Champions cup final against Asec Mimosa which resulted to one of the most iconic goals of South-Africa’s football history. To date, he remains the last player to score a hat-trick in the Soweto derby.
